Mistake #1: Not eating often enough

When you don’t eat often enough, your body goes into starvation mode. What then happens is that the body begins to retain extra body fat. The reason it does this is because body fat is a quick and easy source of energy in times of hunger. This worked great hundreds of years ago, not so well these days for people who aren’t afraid of actually starving.

The best thing to do is eat 4-5 small meals… or 3 small meals and 3 healthy snacks.

Mistake #2: Focusing countless hours on cardio

Long, steady-state, low-intensity cardio is not good for weight loss or if you’re trying to lose belly fat. It is very catabolic. This means it eats muscle tissue for fiber. Because each pound of muscle burns 30 to 50 more calories per day than a pound of fat, you’re inadvertently slowing down your metabolism and burning fewer calories.

Instead, do short bursts of high-intensity interval training. To do this, simply go “all out” with whatever cardio exercise you’re doing. Do this for about 10 seconds. After that, slow it down and do a low intensity on the machine for about 20 seconds. Then keep repeating this cycle for at least 5 minutes.

25 minutes of this will help give you a ‘burn’. What is this, is this… you burn body fat for 18 hours or more AFTER you finish this routine. You won’t get that burn with slow, steady-state cardio like running on a treadmill for 20 minutes at the same speed.

Mistake #3: You are not getting enough fiber in your diet

The average woman should get a minimum of 35 grams of fiber each day. The average American gets about 12 grams of fiber a day. It just isn’t cutting it. Fiber cleanses your system and improves the efficiency of your digestive system to remove sludge waste and toxins. This obviously speeds up weight loss.

The easiest way to get most of your 35 grams or more of fiber each day is to eat 1 can of black beans each day. Each 15-ounce can contains about 25 grams of fiber. It’s only 48 cents at Wal-Mart.
