There are numerous symptoms associated with menopause. One of the many symptoms is weight gain. As women enter their menopausal years, most of them will unexpectedly gain a lot of weight. This may not be due to excessive food intake as is the case with younger women. Hormones in the body are responsible for a woman’s weight gain.

But what exactly is the relationship between menopause and weight gain, and how can it be prevented?

First, we must understand that the weight gain associated with menopause is not due to poor diet. Although it can sometimes be a reason as well, hormones are still the main reason for this. When the ovaries finish their cycle, there will be a sudden imbalance in our body. The hormonal balance will be messed up and it will take months to get it back to normal. During these months, we could gain weight without control.

But the good thing about it is that we can still do some ways to prevent weight gain or at least stay healthy.

The first thing we can do is change our lifestyle. When we were younger, we could be enjoying our health easily because we think we are healthy enough. But when menstruation comes, we have to be very careful. We need to start a healthy diet. This means eating only the essential foods good for the body. Start eating fresh fruits and vegetables in larger amounts. Eat more protein foods like fish.

Apart from diet, we also need to stay active. Exercising regularly will keep us fit. This does not mean work to shrug. But it will be more like keeping the body healthy. We don’t really need to get skinny. All we have to do is prevent the weight from increasing more and more. The weight you were before should stay that way and not starve or force yourself to lose weight.

Diet and exercise are good. Adding some herbal treatments will be better. There are medicinal herbs that help prevent the symptoms of menopause. They help relieve the main symptoms which also include weight gain. That way, we won’t have to worry about being bothered by it.

The relationship between menopause and weight gain is not really uncontrollable at times, but if we just take good care of ourselves, we can break free. Always try to age gracefully and healthily.
