Six Week Body Makeover – It Worked Initially, Now to Keep the Weight Off!
The Six Week Body Makeover Diet was developed by a guy named Micheal Thurmond. He was an overweight teenager, struggling to maintain a healthy weight. He developed a unique weight loss program, which claims drastic weight loss (up to 30 pounds!) with minimal exercise over a 6-week period. If you are very overweight, you should make an appointment to see your doctor to make sure it is safe to follow such a drastic weight loss program. I gained 40 pounds during my 3 pregnancies and felt miserable. It was like having heavy suitcases strapped to my body. I visited my doctor and was given the green light to start the program.
My plan was to lose weight quickly within six weeks when I stopped breastfeeding and then start a rigorous exercise plan when I was at a more comfortable weight to maintain my ideal weight. The great thing about the six-week body makeover is that very little exercise is required, just 20 minutes twice a week. The exercises are targeted at your specific problem areas, for me my five bellies! and the wobbly bottom. When you’re really heavy it’s hard to motivate yourself to do a lot of exercise.
Food preparation was simple, but you have to cook with fresh ingredients from scratch, which was good for the whole family, no more takeaways or frozen meals. You should eat 6 small meals a day. My favorite recipes were the Baked Fries with potato wedges rolled in a mixture of fluffy egg whites, paprika and pepper omelet and egg white with scallions. The diet doesn’t allow dairy, caffeine or sugar, no coffee was miserable to begin with, I did get used to it and felt better and slept like a baby. My kids continued to have milk and cheese and regular cereal for breakfast, but I cut sugar out of their diet as I don’t want my kids to be addicted to sugar. Now I don’t eat carbs in the evening and eat healthy 80% of the time.
I’ve kept the weight off by using the six-week body makeover program to give me a boost and then increasing my exercise and eating for my body type. Now I exercise most days, 1 hour brisk walk (including hills) with my dog and 2-3 dance classes a week. I have recently started Zumba, the results and fat burning are amazing, I am currently 110lbs and want to stay that way. I have a lot more energy and feel confident. Shopping for clothes is much more satisfying.
