But for those who want to act like they don’t know what to do, stick to a diet high in complex carbohydrates, high in fiber, moderate in protein, and low in fat.
Eat Baked Potatoes Instead of French Fries Baked potatoes are a complex carbohydrate. Fat is the sour cream and butter you shouldn’t put in it. The fiber is vegetable. Protein is a lean cut of meat. The fat is the sauce you shouldn’t pour on it.
My number one suggestion really is to eat lots of fruit throughout the day to lose weight (not the canned stuff with high fructose syrup either) real fruit. Bananas, apples, oranges, strawberries, pears, etc. You get the picture. Replace at least one of your meals with a protein shake and eat two properly proportioned meals. Oh yes, lots of water too. This will make you feel full.
I just have to say this. Don’t fall into the trap of buying all this so-called fat-free stuff and thinking it’s the cure for your weight problems. Is not. In fact, most products that claim to be fat-free are not. It’s true that skimmed milk is less fattening than regular vitamin D milk. Use it in your smoothies. But fat-free bacon? PLEASE!!! This is an oxymoron.
As misleading as “fat free” is, it doesn’t mean “no fat gain”. The fact is, you often get just as many calories from the fat-free version.
Fat-free can be a trap if you start to believe that you can eat whatever you want whenever you want, as long as it says fat-free. You’re setting yourself up for failure before you even start…
If all else fails and you find yourself hungry and can’t stand the stomach aches you get (JK) grab a granola bar or drink some more water. Anything healthy will do. Don’t even think about Subway’s low-fat menu! It’s not happening my friend
