Kevin: Why don’t you tell me about the results? I love hearing results. I love hearing about the results. Why don’t you tell me a success story or two of people you’ve basically helped change their lives?
Jill: When I teach 8 week weight loss classes, which I do in my local community, I continue to monitor people after they have finished the class and the time they started the class to complete the class and we did this with measuring tapes and weights and then continue to track them for two years after taking the classes.
Kevin: two years? Wow!
Jill: two years Yes, because beyond two years people moved and it was hard to get them and then they didn’t want to come in and we had a 92% success rate, which is exciting, which is how I knew I had to put the information. in a book, because many other people could benefit from this information. When I speak on stage to large audiences, the funny thing is, I’m up there talking to them about how they can improve their health and lose weight and feel better and have more energy, and usually one or two take very heavily. the information to heart and I get an email a month later that says I’m 56 — I just got this two days ago — 56 and I never thought I could lose weight and give it all away. my smaller size clothes and now I’ve lost 25 pounds and have more energy than ever. Everyone asks me how I did it and it was all because I added breakfast. It was all because I added more fruits and vegetables and had a smoothie and a salad a day. All because and they took a nugget or two out of what we were talking about where they were weak in their wellness triangle and improved it to reach their ultimate goals. They had given up. They thought they couldn’t do it.
In my local community I had a guy who, when he passed my weight loss class, took it again and took it a third time. He lost 115 pounds and he emailed me probably a month ago and said he’s kept 105 but the other 10 came back on and he’s going to gain those 10 back and the interesting thing is he’s at about 10 pounds off your ideal. body weight He was scheduled to undergo a gastric bypass. I convinced him, because he loves food. He loves to eat as much as I do and I said if you love to eat you will really give up this option. You will be so limited in the amount and type of things you can eat that it will not be an enjoyable lifestyle for you. He agreed. He loves going out to barbecues. It just has a little less of the fattier foods and really went to town on the veggies.
Jill: He works out every day and has tons of energy and is definitely a role model that I keep coming back to and saying how did you do it again? What are you doing?
Jill: Tell me how you did it again? What was the information that attracted you? But the interesting thing is that it is different for each person.
Jill: So what Dennis had to do versus what I had to do and what someone else who wants to lose weight has to do, you can take all the information and see which will affect your life more in the positive direction .
Kevin: And how did you measure the 92% success rate? What were the criteria?
Jill: They could not gain more than 2 pounds from their final weight.
Jill: Most people lost even more weight, because they only had, well we did an 8-week class with a one-month follow-up, so we only had these people for three months, but the changes they made in three months were changes that have lasted a lifetime. They said they could never go back to their old way of eating because they had too much information and number two, they felt too good.
Jill: And that’s the big thing. It’s not just about looking cool in your skinny jeans. It’s about the energy you have. You don’t need to flood your body with caffeine and chemicals to keep you awake and alert. You can do it naturally.
Kevin: Yes. In a world where studies say 98% of people who lose weight gain it back, a 92% success rate is absolutely incredible.
Jill: I think a lot of the success we had with our classes was that I was able to individualize and help people see how their lives could fit into the plan. Not only do they go from their life to the plan, but they incorporate little things from the thin election routine into what they were already doing. If they didn’t eat breakfast, it was easy and I didn’t give it all at once. I said we work on breakfast and water today. Those are the only things you’re going to work on this week and then come back and see how it feels and then start adding something.
something else So I think that’s the big part. Look at the person and see where the stress is in their life and if they are stress eating, they are eating for reasons other than actual hunger. You need to help this person realize what they can do to remove stress from their life or to help relieve it. Maybe they just need to do some meditation or take a yoga class. Their stress is back under control and they are better able to make decisions in other areas of their lives.
Kevin: And it’s probably not just about — I don’t really know. It’s not about what kind of stress or what they’re doing. It’s just a matter of them recognizing it. correct?
Jill: Yes. Yeah and if you’re turning to food because you’re depressed maybe we need to look at depression. What is the reason? Do you live in Wisconsin and don’t get enough sun in the winter? Maybe you need a solar lamp instead of turning to the food. I went through this about two years ago. We went 25 days without sun and I was just depressed and I just wanted chocolate and I thought what was wrong with me. I gained about 7 pounds and couldn’t get off of it. Well, I realized it was lack of sun, so I went on vacation. As soon as we got into the clouds of Minneapolis and the sun was shining, I was drawn to the window and realized that the sun is a big part of my health, so I needed it. So I regularly schedule mid-winter vacations to get out of the cold and that helps keep my stress levels down, because I turned to food when I was feeling down.
Kevin: It’s amazing how the health clues reveal themselves as you continue.
Jill: Yes, and it was so interesting to me that no one else was affected by this lack of sunshine in my house. I was the only one, so I thought I was crazy. I thought I need drugs? what do i need Do I need more chocolate? All I could think about was that I needed chocolate, because I couldn’t think straight.
Jill: But it’s amazing, this one. I thought, okay. This is what I needed and I’m learning and I think you learn more about yourself every day. You just have to be open and listen to what your body is telling you.
Kevin: Yes. That’s amazing advice. Why not —
Jill: It could have been the vitamin D I needed, but I’d rather lie on the beach and think about it.
Kevin: Yes. Get your 15 minutes.

Track it for a month.
