How to Look 10 Years Younger – 3 Anti Aging Traps to Avoid
If you’re trying to look 10 years younger or more, there’s no shortage of information and products to help you achieve your goal. Nowadays, it seems like everywhere there is some new cosmetic product or procedure that claims to eliminate wrinkles, restore elasticity, restore radiance… the list goes on and on.
But before you try this breakthrough product or visit that hot new medical spa, there are 3 anti-aging cheats you need to know. Fall into one of these, and no matter what products you’re using, you could be undermining your results without even knowing it.
Anti-Aging Trap #1: No Passion for Anti-Aging or Complete Acceptance of the Aging Process
“Passion for antiaging?” you say. “Of course I have a passion for anti-aging. Why do you think I spend hundreds of dollars on products and procedures?”
Let’s make one thing clear: Passion for antiaging and looking 10 years younger has nothing to do with how many products you buy or how many visits you schedule with your plastic surgeon. The passion for anti-aging starts in the brain:
For example: Every morning when I wake up, the first thing on my mind is anti-aging. I am constantly researching, studying and implementing trial ideas to stay and feel younger and more vibrant. I really enjoy it and not a day goes by that I don’t think about anti-aging and trying to look 10 years younger.
Now I know that not everyone wakes up or even can wake up with anti-aging on the brain. There are kids to go to school, jobs to go to, bills to pay; the list goes on and on.
But to really achieve any level of anti-aging, you need to have some passion for it.
Because?
Because passion for anything, whether it’s looking 10 years younger, losing weight or getting a promotion, starts in the brain. The moment you set out to achieve something, your brain immediately jumps into ideas to carry out that plan. Passion is the fuel that drives this process. The more passionate you are about an idea, the more likely you are to get what you want.
Unfortunately, the fight against aging or trying to look 10 years younger or faster is quickly losing momentum. This is because many people believe that there are only a few options for staying truly young. Once they start to age, they think their only options are plastic surgery or Botox. Which brings us to the next anti-aging trick:
Antiaging Trap #2: Overloading on plastic surgery and cosmetic procedures
I recently met a 48-year-old woman who was clearly addicted to plastic surgery. His face was smooth, taut and unlined. He had no wrinkles on his forehead, around his eyes, or around his mouth. But guess what? He didn’t look ten years younger. She looked like a 48-year-old woman who had a lot of work done.
His face was like a mask, even when he smiled. You can see this look on many celebrities (Courtney Cox, Nicole Kidman, Joan Rivers). Maybe that’s why some people think it’s the best way to fight the aging process. People love to emulate their favorite stars.
Now I am not against plastic surgery. Compared to just 10 years ago, plastic and cosmetic surgery has come a long way to help people everywhere look and feel younger. And maybe that’s the problem. As it has become much more affordable, it is now the quick fix rather than the last resort. Too much plastic surgery or cosmetic procedures will not make you look 10 years younger. However, it will make you look weird, unnatural and like a plastic surgery addict.
Anti-aging trap #3 Setting the bar too low
When I ask women what they really want to achieve with all the effort they put into staying young, most often they answer with the following:
“I want to look good for my age.”
The only way to know how to answer that statement is “Why?”
If you really want to look good for your age, it doesn’t matter if you’re over 30, 40 or 50, I say go for it. You could probably reach your goal in a matter of months if you haven’t already. But you know this:
You will never go to a college sporting event and have 4 different students mistake you for one student. You won’t be able to wear a miniskirt and look “age appropriate”. (Sorry to use that phrase. I actually despise it, but that’s another article.) You’ll never go jogging and have 3 seventeen year olds on scooters ask you what college you go to.
Because? Because “looking good for your age” is setting the bar too low. Sure you look good, but only for your age. It’s the equivalent of the comment: “you throw pretty well for a girl.” You want to look good. You want to look so good that no one can tell you look good for your age because no one can tell how old you are.
I know many women over 40 who can and have been mistaken for a college student. That they still have the ability to pull off a mini and flip flops. And that they have 17-year-old boys waving at them from their motorbikes and scooters
Now that we’ve talked about the 3 anti-aging traps and how easy it is to fall into them, let’s talk about the good news. Watch the quote below:
“Anti-aging for us is a lifestyle. My wife and I decided a long time ago that we would not age. We ate well, we were constantly going to try new things, we took care of our bodies. But most importantly , we’ll figure it out and I guess we’ll be fine.” – of a 52-year-old man and his 46-year-old wife.
This quote comes from a married couple I met recently who I had assumed were in their thirties. The man confessed to me that he was actually 52 and his wife was 46. I was quite surprised. Being as obsessed as I am with anti-aging, I can usually guess people’s ages pretty well. So that really threw me for a loop.
This couple looked, walked and talked like they were 35 years old. And a 35 year old. It was really amazing and I couldn’t stop looking at them.
So how were they able to look at least 10-15 years younger? Is it possible that they have had some plastic surgery?
They were very open and honest about their beauty and maintenance regime. They told me they had had “absolutely no Botox”. And without plastic surgery. Both have peels every six months to rejuvenate their skin. They don’t eat any processed food and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. They exercise 5 days a week, stretch extensively to stay flexible and agile, and keep up with the latest innovations in the antiaging industry.
Everything they told me was fascinating and their plan was obviously working for them. But I kept coming back to his original quote: “My wife and I decided we would not grow old.”
This little statement is one of the key reasons why they are able to stay so vibrant and young. In their minds, they would not accept the aging process and when they had this statement firmly established in their brains they put in place a life plan to fight aging at every turn. Once that statement was firmly in place, everything that followed became second nature to them.
And this is the real key to fighting aging and staying young and vital. Believing with absolute certainty that you can. So be passionate about anti-aging, don’t overdo cosmetic and plastic surgery, and set the bar really high. When you avoid these anti-aging pitfalls, you’ll be surprised how quickly your body and mind respond. You may wake up looking 10 years younger in a couple of months.
