When turning 40 this year, I decided I had better start taking care of myself. One goal is to try to eat better. Not by a bunch of supplements and vitamins to mimic what a good diet needs, but to get the vitamins and minerals through real foods. Looking at all the things I need to take to help things like brain function, antioxidants, anti-aging, regularity, cardiovascular health, blood sugar stability, I came across a “superfood” that covered all my nutritional needs.

The product is called Natraburst and brought to you by the makers of Herbalife. One serving contains more than 6 servings of fruits and vegetables. It is not a supplement as it is made from raw foods. It has 50 calories per serving, just 3 grams of carbs, and zero sugar. I was a bit skeptical at first, until I did my homework on its contents. Here’s what’s in it and what the benefits of each ingredient are.

Brown Rice Protein – Good source of B vitamins and fiber. For those who are lactose intolerant, it is a good substitute for whey protein.

Flax – There are MANY benefits to consuming flax. Fiber, it helps stabilize blood sugar due to the Omega 3 content, it helps fight high triglyceride cholesterol. It contains lignans. Lignans are a cancer-fighting compound, and flax contains over 800 times the amount of any other plant food tested. It is an anti-inflammatory and reduces inflammation by up to 30%. It helps relieve symptoms of menopause as flax is a phytoestrogen which helps stabilize hormone levels.

Acerola – It contains vitamins B2, B2, C, beta-carotene, magnesium, niacin and B5. B5 helps cell metabolism and is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease.
