Phytoplankton is the food used by the largest and oldest animals and fish in the world. Blue whales, bowhead whales, and many other types of whales all eat plankton. These species live between 80 and 150 years and retain great strength and stamina throughout their lives. The largest fish is a plankton-eating whale shark that lives for over 150 years, is up to 14 meters long, weighs up to 15 tons and is sexually active until it dies.

That’s what phytoplankton can do for marine life, and it can do a lot for us too, although I don’t foresee any of us living for a century and a half.

Plankton’s elements and electrolytes are almost tailor-made for the human body. It is no coincidence that the composition of human plasma is similar to that of sea water. We are born from the sea and our internal bodies reflect it. Our bodies need the micronutrients and trace elements found in phytoplankton to function as nature intended. Left to its own devices, the human body has a wonderful system called homeostasis that keeps all systems in balance. Take away some critical component, such as a trace mineral, and the body suffers malfunctions that lead to suboptimal performance. Too many dysfunctions cause disease.

For example, a woman I met who suffered from osteoporosis later had an accident that left her with a hairline fracture in her foot. The doctor said that with her osteoporosis, it would probably take 3-6 months for her to heal. However, she discovered marine phytoplankton and soon began taking some. Within a day the pain was about 50%. After 5 days, she was walking normally without pain. Three weeks after the break, she returned to the doctor (painlessly) who determined that the bone fracture was fused.

Another 80-year-old man we heard about started using phytoplankton. He had had a quadruple bypass and suffered from diabetes.
