Chewy Caramel Brownies
CARAMEL BROWNIES
Ingredients:
Caramels in 2 packets (about 100)
1⅓ cups evaporated milk
1½ cups of butter
2 boxes of German chocolate cake mix
1 cup chopped pecans
1 cup chopped walnuts
24 ounces milk chocolate chips
Instructions:
Melt two packets of caramels with ⅔ cup evaporated milk in microwave or double boiler.
Mix two cans of German chocolate cake mix with 1½ cups melted butter, ⅔ cup evaporated milk, 1 cup pecans and 1 cup walnuts.
Stir cake mixture until moistened. This cake mix will be very thick. Press half of the mixture into a greased 9×13 pan. Cook for 6 minutes at 350°. Remove from oven and sprinkle with 24 ounces of milk chocolate chips and pour the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips. Squeeze remaining cake batter between hands and spoon over caramel.
Place pan in oven and bake for an additional 18 minutes, then remove from oven, let cool 10 minutes, cut and serve.
Makes about 25 chewy caramel brownies
Note: Add another 1/2 cup chopped pecans and top these brownies with chopped pecans right out of the oven. I also added the marshmallow creme to this recipe and it is to die for, but very rich.
