In Canada’s Food Guide, the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables is 7 to 8 servings of fruits and vegetables for an adult woman and 8 to 10 servings for men. Absorbing these recommended food portions can be overwhelming for a man or a woman. Who wants to take the time to sit down and munch on all those fruits and veggies? Who has time to do this every day?

This is where juicing comes in. You can put three, four or more vegetables and/or fruits into the juicer at the same time and drink the juice. In fact, there are many books available filled with recipes of all types of combinations that are delicious. You can consume the servings of fruits and vegetables your body needs in less than 5 minutes, and you’re good to go.

2. Juicing and drinking your fruits and vegetables is better for your system.

When you eat your fruits and vegetables, you must take the time to chew them well, and once swallowed, the body must finish breaking down the fibrous part of the food. The final step in the process is to digest and absorb food using enzymes.

This enzyme is normally present in raw fruits or vegetables. However, the additives and preservatives in processed foods and the process of steaming and frying food or even pasteurization not only kills the enzyme, but many of the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients present in Food. As a result, we end up eating foods that are “lifeless”

On the other hand, the juice from fruits and vegetables keeps the enzymes and all the nutrients intact. At the time, one of his tasks was to do the dishes practically from morning to evening. At one point, one of his hands rashed, was very sore and as red as a beetroot.

The doctor then told him to drink only fresh carrot juice every day for a month, to constantly wear a white woolen glove until his hand was better, and to work only in the garden. She only had to take off this white glove when she was working in the garden where her hand could come into contact with the ground. After a month, all the symptoms were completely gone and her hand was like new.

Here is another example. In the article “Medicine: U for Ulcers” written in the 1949 issue of Time magazine, the author explains how Dr. Garnett Cheney of Stanford University School of Medicine conducted a study on the effectiveness of cabbage juice in healing ulcers. Dr. Cheney thought the ulcers were the result of a vitamin U deficiency in the body. Repeated X-rays would be used to monitor the results.

The participants who all suffered from ulcers were divided into two groups. One group would be placed on a mild, non-acidic diet and would be treated with milk and burn-relieving drugs (alkalis). In this group, duodenal ulcers healed in 37 days and stomach ulcers took 42 days to heal.

People in the second group were allowed to continue with their normal routine of smoking and eating whatever they wanted. Instead of alkalis and milk, this group received a liter of freshly squeezed cabbage divided into 5 portions during the day. In this group, duodenal ulcers healed in an average of 10.4 days and stomach ulcers healed in 7.3 days.

Although society has largely moved away from consuming liquefied fruits and/or vegetables as a way to help the body heal itself, it is never too late. Juicing fruits and vegetables is certainly a viable option that can still be explored.

4. By drinking freshly made juice from vegetables and fruits, your body will have access to the abundance of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals found in raw fruits and vegetabless; thus, your body has a better chance of staying young and healthy. Why?

During normal daytime activities, our body produces what are called free radicals. Antioxidants in the body then pursue these radicals and absorb them to prevent or at least slow down the damage these free radicals can cause to our skin and muscle tissue, which in turn can lead to disease and aging.

Likewise, vitamins and minerals are necessary for good health because they not only strengthen the immune system but also help cells and organs do their job so that the body can grow and develop normally.
