Eat 1 Whole Pizza Everyday and Lose Weight – The Surprising Weight Loss Experiment Results
Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you could eat your favorite food that you knew was unhealthy…and still lose weight? Well, I asked myself the question. Then I went to see how I could lose weight by eating my favorite meal (pizza) every day.
I have a lot of weight loss clients who have no discipline and just can’t eat healthy for more than a few days…even if I put a gun to their head (ok, not really… no weapon involved).
So I have to develop ready-made means for them to lose weight. Anyway, here are the surprising results of my “Pizza a Day Weight Loss Experiment”.
Now one of my favorite foods is Totino Mexican style frozen pizzas. Cost, 98 cents at Wal-Mart. So my plan was to eat 1 a day for 10 days.
Here’s how I did it:
I ate 3 scrambled eggs with a 1/2 can of black beans…and 2 tbsp of sour cream. Ok, with me so far? I don’t eat pizza with every meal. Only 2 meals… and I limit myself to only 3 meals (which I don’t normally do).
That’s a total of about 415 net calories. I don’t count carbs in fiber. Eggs had 210 calories, black beans 145 net calories, and sour cream 60 calories.
1/2 of the frozen Totino pizza with another 1/2 can of black beans and 2 tablespoons of sour cream. 1/2 of the pizza equals 360 calories, 18 grams of fat, 36 grams of carbs, and 16 grams of protein. The 1/2 can of black beans has a net total of about 145 calories since I don’t count carbs in fiber. Sour cream is again 60 calories.
So this meal was 565 calories.
For dinner, I had the other half of the pizza, another 1/2 can of black beans, and another 2 tablespoons of sour cream. (Note: can’t you say I love black beans! They’re high in protein and fiber, with no sugary carbs! I consider them a superfood!) So this meal had an extra 565 calories.
So my totals…I had about 1545 true calories. 91 grams of protein, 40 grams of fiber, 65 grams of fat, and 142 grams net of carbs.
11 grams of sour cream
36 grams of pizza
5 grams of black beans
13 grams of eggs
18 grams of eggs
3 grams of sour cream
38 grams of black beans
32 grams of pizza
Net carb totals:
63 grams of black beans
6 grams of sour cream
1 gram of eggs
72 grams of pizza
The only other thing I ate these days was fruit for snacks…from the choices…apples, grapefruits, bananas, blueberries, and raspberries. I didn’t bother adding those calories. I only drank water too.
Now the surprising results…
I didn’t know what to expect as frozen pizzas are definitely not healthy. I also had a lot of carbs. Anyway, in 10 days I lost a total of 3 lbs. A success! It worked.
Since then I have put some of my clients on slightly modified versions of this diet and about 80% of them have been able to lose weight. So, I’m happy if you want to lose weight…and if you’re only doing it for a short time. Heck, it’s really cheap too. Cost less than $2 per day. Woohoo.
So, to be clear…you can eat “unhealthy” and lose weight. I haven’t changed anything in my exercise program. Weight loss had nothing to do with physical exercise.
Would I advise you to live on this diet forever? Definitely not. But for 7-10 days, yes, it can help you lose weight while eating tasty and unhealthy foods. Hmm, maybe I should go on an ice cream and potato chip diet! Nah, just kidding!
Bonus Tip: For a crazy diet like this to work, you need to choose high protein and/or high fiber foods to base the diet on…or use high protein/fiber foods as supplements. On this diet, black beans were high in fiber and protein. The pizzas were “balanced”. Anyway, I’ve actually created a few crazier diets like this for my clients from different foods. The results for them were similar to the “Pizza a Day Weight Loss Experiment” results.
So don’t fixate on how to lose weight. There are many different ways.
If I had to give you a few other diets like this, do you think you could try one and prove or disprove it for yourself?
