Bonding With Your Baby-A Co-sleeper Crib (Part 2)

Before my first son was born, I read about the co-sleeper crib. I was ready to breastfeed him and thought it best for him to stay in our room for the first few months. Well, because of postpartum depression and some wonderful “unsolicited” advice, we put him in his own crib within the first week and the co-sleeper became pretty useless.

Well, it was totally worth it and more for my third baby, Gabrielle. Even though I still wasn’t able to breastfeed her, I exclusively pumped for her for over a year. She stayed in our room, in the co-sleeper’s crib, for 6 months. It was wonderful. Every time she squirmed to wake up for her feed, I could hear her and wake up before her to have her bottle ready. I don’t think she cried at night for the first 6 months. We would simply snuggle up in bed for each of his nightly feedings.

I remember using a baby monitor for my son and listening to him breathe just waiting for him to wake up for his next feed. I hated this monitor more than anything. I was determined not to use this thing for this baby.

The 6 month old seems to be flying with Gabrielle. She and I got so close, and it was pretty hard when it came time to put her in her room after 6 months. I know that if I didn’t have this co-sleeper to use when Gabrielle came home from the hospital, then we wouldn’t be as close as we are today.
