Chickens can handle colder weather better than hot weather because they can’t sweat. Instead they cool off by dipping their beaks in cold water or flapping their wings to air out the feathers.
The sounds of chickens are very important. Roosters sing to warn the flock of possible danger and also to assert dominance over other chickens. The Roosters actually have several types of warning crows to describe where an attacker might be from the ground or the air. A hen emits special sounds to guide the chicks to eat and also clucks when they are happy. They also make a happy sound after laying an egg.
