First things first…this is not an article about how to lose weight fast…or even to lose weight. Yes, what I am about to share with you will help you lose weight, BUT THE FOCUS of this article is on how to keep the weight off!
How to lose weight and keep it off
I’m just going to assume that your food is healthy enough and I’ll let you take care of that part of maintaining your weight loss. I will focus on the exercises.
U #1 Exercise to maintain weight is… WALKING.
WAIT WAIT WAIT! Don’t leave me yet, I also have some little-known tips on how to get the most calories burned from walking.
Now, walking is great for keeping weight off (as opposed to losing weight) because walking dramatically affects your SET POINT. Your setpoint is like your own body thermostat. It likes to be in a certain range and if you lose weight and get below that range…it pulls you back into the range to regain the weight.
Because this is a bit complex, I will clearly state that if you do not lose weight while also lowering your setpoint, you will probably gain the weight back. But the OL’ WALKING plan helps to lower your set point (yet walking is not a good exercise to lose weight with… STRANGE).
So anyway, 2 key points that I want to say to help you not only for weight loss, but to keep the weight that you have lost.
1. Take deep breaths while walking
Do a 5-5-5…inhale for 5 seconds, hold for 5 seconds, and exhale for 5 seconds EVERY MINUTE. It is the best. But if you don’t want to do that, just take a deep breath once a minute. This helps oxygenate your blood which helps burn more calories. A great 15 second weight loss accelerator.
2. Walk on a slope
This is very great for weight loss… as opposed to walking on a flat surface. Just a slight incline of 10-15 degrees is all you need to start dropping even more pounds WHILE also lowering your set point.
