Charles Atlas Exercises Revealed
In a minute, I’ll give you the best Charles Atlas exercises, but I have a confession to make. You see, as a 12-year-old boy, I had a paper route. While this paper route didn’t generate a lot of money, it did allow for some small comforts, things like ice cream, comic books, and muscle magazines.
While reading one of those comic books I stumbled upon a small ad in the back for a dynamic tension exercise course by Charles atlas. I wasn’t a weak 97 pounder, I don’t even remember weighing that much.
You see my freshman year in high school I weighed 102 pounds! The only reason I remember that is because it was the weight I struggled with in my first year.
But back to the story and let me explain what are the best exercises of Charles Atlas.
That whole summer I saved every penny from my paper route and sent for Charles’ atlas course. As you can imagine, I eagerly awaited its arrival. Every day, I would check my mailbox to see if it had arrived.
I will always remember the day it came. I tore the envelope open and pulled out my first lesson. Visions of huge muscles and that I am no longer caught in my head. I started at this moment of training.
For those of you not familiar with Charles’ atlas, he designed an exercise program that used a combination of isometrics and bodyweight exercises. He also had some interesting times at the exercises. For example, instead of just doing push-ups on the floor, you have to do some of the push-ups on three chairs.
Doing this way allowed me to go further in the exercise, this caused my chest muscles to respond very quickly. Well, you can imagine how happy I was.
My newfound strength and increased muscle size allowed me to do very well in gym class.
It’s been years since I used Carlo’s atlas course and, while it has its place in history, I’ve since come to understand its limitations. Body weight exercises can only go as far as building size and strength. To build a strong and muscular body, you must use progressive resistance.
In other words, the limitations of Charles’ atlas exercises, as in all body weight exercise programs, is that there is no ability to add additional resistance.
You can increase its effectiveness by using isometric exercise equipment, resistance bands, weight vests or another person’s body weight. Using these simple tips, you will be able to do Charles’s atlas exercises more effectively.
