Our Living World – Compassion in Action

In this world now, there are unfortunate people and especially children trying to survive in extreme poverty, dying of malnutrition and disease every few minutes. Some are sold into slavery, while others are in extreme terror, living in countries torn by war trapped by their doctrines that need to be arrogantly right, fighting for causes that can see everyone die young. These people would happily live off our meager table scraps, who would want to use our old furniture, who would be grateful for our discarded clothes, and would happily sleep on the dry floor in our quiet garage.

These people and children are not focused on the latest technologies or discoveries, as this does not protect them, the latest iphone does not prevent them from hunger, and a wireless Laptop means nothing when you are illiterate, malnourished , sick or dying. . We need to get a grip… as we ignorantly take our abundant existence for granted and worry about stupid things that are not life threatening.

At what point in spiritual evolution do we use our greater awareness to help humanity and make a difference in these realities? Just because things are the way they are, doesn’t make it right, nor does it mean they have to stay the same. We can all do another one if we have to!

As a global family united in our common humanity, we always make the same mistakes. We are always trapped in our own needs to be bothered to help our fellow humans. Where is the honor in that? Aren’t they the only ones who feel and think this way? Where is the wisdom of the age of humanity in our governments and laws? Where is it written that some will be rich and others will be poor? Obviously, when we hear words of equality in humanity, it is only a spiritual ideal, when it becomes a reality, based in everyday life in caring for the well-being of others.

Imagine how easy it could be to change the status quo if only our world leaders were willing?

I care about our world and everyone in it, I care enough to speak my truth, which is why I put out the written words that hopefully pierce the heart of humanity, enough to make a certain contribution to heal his enormous mistakes. I spread the words of peace and love, the words of wisdom that the soul is greater than the intellect. That is the right of every person to live as he or she sees fit, as long as they do not harm anyone. I believe that one day, it will happen… that the world will become a better place for our children, children, children. How can we solve the mess that our ancestors made of things and get away from senseless wars and stop poverty, educate the illiterate and create new ideals and awareness that really serve our global community and greater humanity .

Join my team as we heal the world with compassion; it takes an act of love and kindness at the same time! A practice we can all adopt and add to our daily lives. What act of compassion did you do today? We want to know. If you have a small foundation or charity working towards a better world we want to know. Contact S’Roya by email and share your story. How do you contribute to making the world a better place for those less fortunate?

Siddhartha Foundation UK, true Compassion in Action

Recently I met a very interesting lady named Dechen Chodron, who mentioned to me a Foundation that she and a few others had set up to help poor and homeless children who got stuck in the Himalayas. Dechen told me how the Siddhartha Foundation UK was set up in 2006 by a group of 5 friends living in Somerset county, after being inspired by Lama Khenpo Chimed Rinpoche, a kind, wise and compassionate Buddhist master from Kathmandu in Nepal. . Khenpo, (as he is known to his friends and students) has brought peace and comfort to many in the east and west with his Tibetan Buddhist teachings. At the same time he spread awareness of the situation of thousands of children of Tibetan origin in Nepal, where extreme poverty prevents them from getting any form of education in their tradition.

Bringing hope to the Himalayan and Tibetan children of Nepal

The Trustees are: Michael and Lynne Orchard, Dechen Chodron and Adrian Beckingham, who are helped and supported by Rita Hraiz.

Between them, the founders have skills in charity management, business, education, social work, culture and arts, media and finance.

“We all give our time for free,” says Dechen, “as do all the friends and supporters of the Foundation.” This helps keep their overheads to a minimum, thus maximizing the amount of donation that goes directly to the welfare of children in Nepal.

His mission

We will provide a shelter and shelter for some of the poorest children in the Himalayan region of Nepal.

We must provide education, health care, more emotional, physical and spiritual support for these children.

We will work to preserve the ancient wisdom of Tibet with a new generation of young people, displaced from their homeland.

We must strive to work with compassion, kindness, clarity and care at all times.

About Nepal

Nepal is one of the six poorest countries in the world with more than half of the population surviving on less than $1 or 50p per day.

Life expectancy is 10 years lower than India and more than ten children die every hour due to malnutrition and disease.

More than 85% of the population is illiterate.

Nepal is home to tens of thousands of refugees who have made the dangerous escape from Tibet over the high passes of the Himalayas. Despite their extreme poverty, the Nepalese are renowned for their hospitality, generosity and warmth of spirit.

The Siddhartha School, believes in Love, Care, Health, Education, the most precious gifts for a Himalayan child. With the help of a few generous benefactors, Khenpo purchased a plot of land near Kathmandu and began construction of a school, which will eventually be able to accommodate about 150 students. The school is run by its founder Lama Khenpo Rinpoche, who personally oversees all aspects of student welfare and school management.

After seeing the first buildings open with an initial intake of 80 students, a decision was made to actively support the project, creating the Siddhartha Foundation UK to work closely with our Nepali partners Siddhartha Foundation Nepal which is a registered aid fund without profit. the project on an ongoing basis.

The Dalai Lama of Tibet has personally endorsed Lama Khenpo’s work to help Himilayan children in this way…

Quote: “I really appreciate the faith and dedication that Lama Khenpo gave to establish this school where the dharma can flourish. The Dalai Lama calls everyone to support this project with all possible efforts. I send my prayers for the complement. of all the noble wishes of Lama Khenpo” HH Dalai Lama.

The Siddhartha Foundation School located near Kathmandu, brings a ray of hope and light to those children lucky enough to have a place. The students all come from poor backgrounds where health care and basic education are not available to them. Many of the students are orphans and for them the school provides a safe and nurturing environment. The school takes care of all the students’ needs, from food and clothing to medical fees and the cost of their educational materials. Students learn many things; the daily lessons are mainly English, Nepali and Tibetan language, mathematics, meditation, philosophy, art and Tibetan culture and physical education.

At the moment, the Siddhartha School is all for boys, but soon (when funds allow) a school for girls will be built, because I believe in equal rights for both sexes. The Siddhartha Foundation is engaged in seeking funds also for the construction of a clinic, an infirmary and a dispensary, which will make it available and benefit the students and the villagers. We encourage you all to check out this great work of foundations and support them in their mission, either by sponsoring a child or donating.
